IT WAS A BIG ONE! An earthquake measuring 7. 2 on the Richter scale hit the border between Tijuana and San Diego… The epicenter was located about 30 kilometers southeast from Mexicali… Ten aftershocks followed…The most powerful one had a 5. 4 magnitude…Two deaths have been reported and 100 injured. The earthquake knocked down electricity posts and telephone lines, as well as knocking off merchandise from shelves in stores in Tijuana… The quake caused a complete blackout in the Baja California state capital Mexicali…The quake also made buildings rock in west Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley… Many families were in the middle of their Easter dinners… The quake was felt all the way to Phoenix, Arizona and Santa Barbara in northern California…++++++++++The Holy Week vacations wrapped up, and thousands of road travelers returned to Mexico City on highways, clogging traffic for miles at the Mexico City-Cuernavaca and Mexico City-Querétaro tolls…++++++Nineteen people were killed in Guerrero over the Holy Week … Five drowned in the ocean… Furthermore, 31 highway accidents left 78 people injured… +++++The body of four-year old Paulette Gebara Farah was handed over to her father, who were both released from temporary arrest.
