Mexican business tycoon Moises Saba Masri was killed along with four other family Saba Masri, had important holdings in Mexican telecom company Unefon and broadcaster TV Azteca, was cleared on fraud charges brought by the U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 2008. —-Forecasters are predicting continued low temperatures in coming days in at least 20 states in central and eastern Mexico… A mass of cold air coming from the North pole created cold front number 22 that is causing the cold weather…—-Authorities said no deaths were reported in the last week because of the cold … But since cold front 22 emerged there have been nine deaths, seven in Chihuahua; one in Durango and another in Puebla. . . —-Despite intense cold the number of AH1N1 influenza cases has not increased, according to the Health Secretariat… However health authorities said it’s not time to lower our guard…—-Authorities in Mexico City continue on alert because of freezing temperatures… Brigades are out on city streets looking for homeless people to take to shelters to protect them from the cold… —-The Finance Secretariat denied it failed to keep a pledge to keep gasoline prices at the same rate in 2009… The Secretariat said that even though there were two increases at the end of December, on average throughout the year gasoline prices actually dropped 2. 1 percent in real terms…—-The Permanent Committee will on Wednesday decide when to summon Economy Secretary Gerardo Ruiz Mateos to explain why basic good prices and fuel rates were increased… Finance Secretary and Pemex director general appeared before Congress on Thursday…—-PRI Senate caucus leader Manlio Fabio Beltrones asked the government not to jump to celebrate economic recovery in 2010… He said there are still signs of uncertainty and of the social impact of the recession that has been very hard…—-PAN senators said they are ready to debate fiscal reform, but said the subject should not be linked to upcoming elections…—-Orthodox bishops and evangelical pastors went to the Metropolitan Cathedral to show their position in support of the Catholic Church’s horror at legalization of same-sex marriage and the right to adopt children…—-Excélsior newspaper reported Saturday as the most violent day Felipe Calderón’s presidency. . . Fifty-two people were executed, 13 of them women, and eight minors… Of the assassinations, nine were decapitations….
