Quentin Tarantino Defends His Use Of The N-Word And Violence In Django Unchained

Whatever happened to artistic license?!Quentin Tarantino has been under fire for his use of the N-word and depiction of slavery in Django Unchained, but he doesn’t think there is anything wrong with it. The famed director explains:”Well, you know if you’re going to make a movie about slavery and are taking a 21st-century viewer and putting them in that time period, you’re going to hear some things that are going to be ugly, and you’re going see some things that are going be ugly. That’s just part and parcel of dealing truthfully with this story, with this environment, with this land. “Quentin went on to say that his goal was not to make viewers comfortable, but for the film’s words to feel like ” a big, gigantic boulder, a jagged pill” with no glass of water to help wash it down. You know what? If the use of derogatory words lends itself to the story-telling, and is intended to enhance the authenticity of the art, then what is the big problem?! It’s a period piece. That is the REALITY of that time in our history. If we heard Quentin using the N-word on the daily, then THAT would be cause for concern. Obviously, not many of his fans seem to have a problem with it!! LOLzPick your battles, Spike Lee![Image via WENN. ]

  1. He is right. History must be portrayed as accurately as possible. Can you imagine a WWII movie where the Nazis are nice to the Jews, or a period piece where the women are treated as equals?

  2. Hey, for the sake of art, he should really be allowed to say or do whatever the fuck he wants to, no matter what, and then let ratings deal with it. If he’s cool with whatever rating his art gets, then….
