Visiting a copper Utopia in Mexico
While bouncing across the Atlantic on his way to the New World in 1530, Spanish lawyer-turned-cleric Vasco de Quiroga is said to have passed the time by reading Thomas More’s best-seller, “Utopia. ” A few years later, he created his own brand of More’s paradise on earth in villages around a remote area of the country.
