The Silversun Pickups Want Mitt Romney To Be President Stop Using Their Song
If you’ve been to a Mitt Romney campaign event this year, you might have heard the song Panic Switch by the Silversun Pickups playing during his appearance. As it turns out, the band kind of hates him and it’s only been playing because he never asked for the band’s permission to use the song in the first place! Now they’re pissed so their lawyers fired off a stern, yet pretty funny letter which asks that he “immediately discontinue using any material that infringes the copyright in” ANY of their songs. The letter points out that Senator John McCain’s campaign had the same issue after using a Jackson Browne song without permission and continues to explain:”As a result, the Ohio Republican Party and the RNC apologized for misusing the song. They ‘pledged in future election campaigns to respect and uphold the rights of artists and to obtain permissions and/or licenses for copyrighted works where appropriate. ” Mr. Romney, it’s appropriate here, so we’d appreciate it if you get on board with your party. “Ha! They’re not messin’ around here, so he better listen. Frontman Brian Aubert reiterated the band’s feelings toward the Republican presidential candidate when he said:”We don’t like people going behind our backs, using our music without asking, and we don’t like the Romney campaign. We’re nice, approachable people. We won’t bite. Unless you’re Mitt Romney!”LOL![Image via WENN. ]
