Trading in her tennis racket for some designer duds, Maria Sharapova is stunning on the front of Harper?s Bazaar Russia’s August 2012 issue. The 25-year-old athlete-turned model shows off her elegant posing prowess in the color and black-and-white beach photo spread. And while Maria seems to be a total natural in front of the camera, her recent role as Russian flag carrier at the 2012 London Olympic Games Opening Ceremony proved to be a nerve-wracking spectacle. Ms. Sharapova explained, ?When I received the call to carry Russia?s flag during the Opening Ceremony, I almost didn?t believe it. It was only later that I learned that I was to be the first female athlete in Russia?s history to do so. It?s a very proud moment to be chosen to represent a country that has shown me such support and loyalty throughout my career. ?
