Holly space balls!Prometheus raked in $3. 6 million during its midnight opening!Audiences eagerly awaited Ridley Scott?s sci-fi prequel for years so we aren’t shocked it brought in boatloads of paper Benjamins. It also doesn?t hurt that Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, and Michael Fassbender all look wonderfully mouth-watering in the trailers. This midnight showing crushed Charlize?s other summer tent-pole, Snow White and the Huntsman, which earned a comparatively paltry $1. 4 mil. Prometheus has pulled in $55 mil overseas and is expected to do great things this weekend, even though its R rating will likely deter some audiences.
