++ The Chihuahua Attorney General’s Office presented one of the accused masterminds behind the killings of students in Villas de Salvarcar, in Ciudad Juárez and another three associates, who are also suspected of having ordered the murders… The suspect José Alfredo Soto Arias, alias “El Arnold,” who is number 2 in the La Línea gang, which is the armed wing of the drug cartel run by Vicente Carrillo Fuentes and head of the hired gunmen’s group “Los Linces. ”++ The United States Consulate in Ciudad Juárez opened its doors again after having remained shut for one day as a sign of mourning for the three people linked to it who were brutally assassinated on Saturday, including a pregnant consulate worker. ++ Interior Secretary Fernando Gómez Mont asked the United States to halt arms trafficking on Mexico’s northern border and announced that the Army will remain in Ciudad Juárez. ++ U. S. Ambassador to Mexico México, Carlos Pascual, urged for a coordinated effort in security in Mexico and not to leave everything in the hands of the Army… He warned that in the short run there could be an increase of violence in the border region. ++ Mexican Foreign Affairs Secretary Patricia Espinosa said the U. S. government must attack the drug cartels operating in its territory and reduce drug consumption among its citizens. ++ A candidate in PRD primaries for the mayoralty of Atzalan, in Veracruz, Martín Aburto López, suffered a shooting attack and was in serious condition local PRD party officials said. ++ PRI deputy Alfonso Navarrete Prida submitted a motion for the Chamber of Deputies to assume its responsibility in public security and call a national day against insecurity. ++ President Felipe Calderón said his government is working to shore up economic recovery so that “people can feel it in their pockets. ”++ The Supreme Court will review the trial conducted in the case of two indigenous women Alberta Alcántara Juan and Teresa González Cornelio, who are serving 21 years in prison after being found guilty in the kidnapping of six agents of the now defunct Federal Agency of Investigations.
