Classic Weekend turns into Chicken Roast
Chivas at pollo this weekend as they win the superclasico 1-0 in Jalisco stadium. The goal came from Omar Arellano as he cut down the right side past Aguila defenders and beat Memo Ochoa on his post side, for the goal. Prior to this goal, which happened at minute 35, America had control of the game with some opportunities at goal.
Lets analyze the goalkeeping:
Michel came up and blocked all America attempts. I will say that these shots on goal came at Michel around head height, where he could deflect with his already reaised hands. On the other hand the shot on Memo Ochoa was near and with the foot close to the ground. Memo’s reaction time was useless to block Omar Arellano’s shot, without the luck of being in the right place at the right time. Unfortunately for Memo, he was not at the right place at the right time. He left his post open. This is a basic rule for keepers. Don’t get beat on the post side. It would have been much easier for Omar to shoot and make it if Memo would have left his right side open instead of his left/post. On his right side, the shot may have gone wide, defenders would have blocked it, or Omar would have been forced to use “3 toes” or his left foot to curve the ball in the far post. Which would have been significantly harder than going near post, like he did. Bad on Memo.
Chivas deserved the win and continues on to a great season. The sad thing is, that with players going to NT world cup preparation, their season may come to a disappointing finish.
Check out the results of this match. Blasphemy!
