Chihuahua continues to make headlines: ++ The Chihuahua state Congress rejected the transferring the three branches of state power to Ciudad Juárez. A student was shot to death inside his car at the Chihuahua Autonomous University campus in Chihuahua, the state capital. The state Public Security Secretariat instructed its members to show “Zero tolerance” when it comes to vehicles being driven without license plates or driving permits. The PRD National Council decided to propose to the Senate that state powers be cancelled in Chihuahua State. Coparmex said that insecurity in Ciudad Juárez has caused 10,000 business enterprises to close down and 100,000 people have left the city and gone to neighboring El Paso, Texas. Rain rain go away, come back another day. . . ++ The State of Mexico government said that it won’t be until Sunday when Valle de Chalco will be drained of sewage water that flooded the area when the La Compañía sewage network pipe broke on February 5. Chalco and Valle de Chalco residents are suffering from skin diseases and conjunctivitis after being in contact with sewage water from sewage pipes that burst and flooded the area. ++ The Michoacán Health Secretariat said that in towns devastated by heavy floods and mudslides have also been affected by outbreaks of disease. The Federal District government said that on Monday the first allocation of 46 million pesos from the National Disasters Fund will begin to reach areas affected by rains last week. The Interior Secretariat authorized a disbursement of 192 million pesos from the Natural Disasters Fund to provide aid to the Federal District and the State of Mexico, Baja California and Michoacán, all badly affected by last week’s rains.
