++ In Valle de Chalco, State of Mexico, the level of floodwaters rose another meter, since authorities have yet to seal a 50-meter opening in the Canal de la Compañía sewage system made last Friday… More than 2,000 families in the El Triunfo, Avándaro and San Isidro districts are literally under water. ++ The federal government granted 45 million pesos from the Natural Disasters Fund to refurbish Nezahualcóyotl, Ecatepec, Valle de Chalco and Chalco, in the State of Mexico, which were badly damaged by flooding last week. ++ Speaking in Toluca, in the State of Mexico, President Felipe Calderón said his administration will not abandon people who lost their homes in the rains. ++ Debris and mud dumped by flooding has been removed 100-percent in the Arenal district in Mexico City. ++ Authorities said that 22 people were killed and 83 are reported missing in Michoacán after heavy rains caused flooding and mudslides last week. ++ Meanwhile, Guerrero state also requested aid from the Interior Secretariat for relief after damages caused by rains in 30 of that state’s municipalities. ++ An earthquake measuring 5. 9 on the Richter scale was felt in Mexico City… The quake’s epicenter was located off the shores of Oaxaca. ++ Interior Secretary Fernando Gómez Mont paid a visit to the mourning families of the youths killed in the massacre in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua on January 31st. . . The relatives of the victims demanded a solution to the violence in Ciudad Juárez. ++ The Chihuahua Attorney General’s Office said that former federal, state and municipal police working with U. S. citizens have become the main leaders of criminal gangs operating in Ciudad Juárez for the the drug cartels. ++ Authorities arrested Raydel López Udiarte, known as “El Muletas” and Eleazar García Simental, who goes by the nickname “El Chiquilín,” who are thought to be the new leaders of the cell formerly headed by Teodoro García Simental, “El Teo,” who was detained in January.
