Haitian authorities said that 70,000 bodies have been buried in common graves in Haiti after the devastating earthquake that struck the impoverished Caribbean nation last Tuesday…Removal of rubble has begun in Port-au-Prince causing desperate efforts on the part of survivors to find and retrieve any item that can serve as food…United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon arrived in Port-au-Prince… After touring the U. N. building destroyed by the earthquake, claiming several lives including U. N. officials, Ban Ki-Moon expressed his condolences and sympathy… The U. N. Security Council was set to meet behind closed doors to analyze the situation in Haiti, which appeared to be on the verge of spiraling out of control because of violent gangs, looters and former prisoners on the loose amid the devastation…Meanwhile, reports from Haiti said that 43 rescue teams from all over the world have managed to save more than 70 persons… Mexican rescue workers have pulled seven survivors from the rubble…++++++++++Turning to other topics, PRI Senate caucus leader Manlio Fabio Beltrones criticized Social Development Secretary Heriberto Félix Guerra for not taking an stance on the hikes to food prices, Beltrones said policy changes are urgently needed in government efforts to fight poverty in Mexico. ++++++++++Regarding the AH1N1 virus, Health Secretary José Ángel Córdova said the virus is showing a tendency to diminish, so it is precisely the right time to apply vaccinations and hopefully get most of the population inoculated…++++++The Federal District Health Secretariat said the AH1N1 and ordinary human flu vaccination campaign would start this week at 26 Metro stations… Pregnant women and people suffering respiratory diseases would receive the shot… ++++++++++++Cardinal Norberto Rivera spoke about strengthening marriage between men and women, clearly a shot aimed at same-sex marriage legislation recently approved in Mexico City… The Mexican Anglican church also decided to join the political campaign against same-sex marriage … ++++++++++++++The PAN launched its survey in Mexico City on same-sex marriage and the right to adopt children by same-sex couples… The survey would last all week said Mexico City PAN leader Marian Gómez del Campo… ++++++++++++++
