Interliga 2010 | 1st 4 matches
Weekend of Interliga is over, with little surprises. On Saturday the first 2 games kicked of in Robertson Field in Houston Texas.
Atlante vs Tecos | Atlante came out playing well. They beat Tecos 2-1 with some good runs by Hobbit Bermudez and a Golazo by Daniel Arreola. The only goal by Tecos was by way of some nice passing in the goal area, but some bad marking and overconfident goalkeeping by Vilar. Vilar came out and opened the goal for a cross and goal on open net.
America vs Santos | America came out and played well. Esqueda got the first goal by a nice pass from Pardo. He chested it down and took a good shot past Oswaldo. America then gave up the goal by committing a handball in the area and Santos capitalized on the penalty. The next goal came off a pass from Oscar Rojas to Daniel Montenegro to put America up 2-1. The game was back and forth and pretty exciting. America put it away with a penalty kick by Salvador Cabañas. This was interesting because, Oswaldo was most likely talking trash to Cabañas before taking the kick then doing his typical dance and flash on the goal line. Salvador put it in for the goal then looked back at Oswaldo with some words for him. I guess this got them both riled up, but the Fox Sports Español cameras did not show anything.
Puebla vs Tigres | This game started out evenly matched but ended very differently. Tigres got a goal from a nice run by Lucas Lobos ending with the ball sitting in the goal area and Itamar Batista scoring an easy shot to the left side. Puebla got it back with some horrid defense, from newly acquired Sergio Amaury Ponce who centered a ball to Alvaro Gonzalez to tie the game up. The rest of the game was tightly matched. Kikin came in and missed some opportunities for Tigres. Pescadito Ruiz, remembering his days in FC Dallas, finished off Tigres with 2 goals toward the end of the game. Same old situation for Tigres. The more I see them play the more I think they should descend to 2nd division.
Monterrey vs Jaguares | The champion came out without some of their stars. Aldo and Chupete were not starters and the game was a hard challenged one. The goalies came out victorious and didn’t allow any goals.
