Under its new coach, Mexico attacked and created chances against defense-minded Nicaragua in a 2-0 victory in Group C play. Luis Miguel Noriega scored his first international goal on a penalty kick in the 45th minute of his national team debut, and second-half substitute Pablo Barrera added a goal for El Tri in the 86th minute.
